The Big Debate: One Rule to Rule Them All?
If you ever thought that road rules really weren’t made with cyclists in mind, this is your thing! Or maybe you think that it’s a bloody disgrace that other cyclists treat red lights as polite (but irrelevant) suggestions? Then it’s your thing too.
IPENZ Transportation Group is organising another light-hearted mid-year debate. Watch an affirmative and a negative team face off about the topic:
One Rule to Rule Them All?
‘Cyclists and Pedestrians Should Obey the Road Rules’
Like in last year’s debate, Cycle Action Auckland is intending to have one of ours represent us – in good fun, and with solid argument. Our debater Thad isn’t expecting us to stack the visitor’s gallery for him
but if this sounds like you, come along, and cheer for your team!
Thursday 26th July
Mix and mingle from 5:30pm
Debate Starts at 6pm
Refreshments will be provided

Will there be bike parking, or do we bring them in with us?
Hi Larry – it’s on the university grounds, so there’s some bike parking scattered around the area. Can’t remember if there’s any exactly outside the place.
Room 1439 is in the area where the big red neon artwork is, that one can see from Symonds Street. See lower bottom of the university map linked below.

As a student there, I can help out. There’s some bike racks directly across the road from Engineering, outside the gym (reasonably well lit, busy area, I’d leave my bike there). There’s some more at the level 3 entrance to the Engineering building, near the underpass – but it’s not as well lit, and wont be a busy area at that time – I wouldn’t trust my bike there lol.
