Highwic Cycle Style – Decorated Bike Competition & Parade - Sunday Nov 18!!!

A free event organized by the New Zealand Historic Places. Highwic Cycle Style, will be part of the Highwic 150 year anniversary celebrations and will coincide with a Festival of Flowers. The event will be set in the delightful historic Highwic garden in Newmarket. The concept of bike decorating was inspired by the collection of early photos of the Buckland Family featuring decorated bicycles in keeping with the Victorian tradition of recreational cycling and community fundraising.

This inaugural cycle event aims to promote and celebrate urban cycle style with a focus on summer, fun and community participation. It includes a decorated bike competition, for various fun categories to suit all cycle types. This will be followed by a bike parade through Newmarket, a prize giving ceremony and an afternoon of fun & entertainment including music, refreshments, cycle displays and information on city cycling.
