What’s cyclocross? It’s an exhilarating cross between biking and running, like doing mountain biking on a road bike with added muddy fun. If you’ve fancied trying it out but weren’t sure where to start, fear not – here’s a great way to get your feet wet (and/or your bike a bit muddy).
And anyone can do it. As the poster says, “it’s for little girls, big men, and everyone in between”!
This Sunday is the first in a series of all-ages Cyclocross Sundays across the city, brought to you by Auckland City Cyclocross, the Auckland MTB Club, and Auckland Transport. The day is designed so you can have a go and then – if you’re up for it – enter a race! It’s entirely free (except for a $15 fee for over-16s to enter a race), and there will be some bikes to borrow if you don’t have one.
This weekend: Sunday 23rd August at Puhinui Reserve in Manukau, from 10 am. Races start at 12.30
13 September at Sanders Reserve, Albany
4 October at Barry’s Point Reserve, Takapuna Now at Totara Park, Manukau
25th October, Waiatarua Reserve, Remuera
